Week 4
Last Friday at assembly the Junior Kapa Haka group performed for the first time. They were amazing and this Friday they will perform at JPC which is very exciting for them.
On Monday we have a Teacher Only Day. Remember if you require care for your child tomorrow you can ring Maryanne Roling from Glenholme Afterschool Care. Mary Anne’s contact number is 347 0709 or 021 121 5599.
Swimming - No swimming for any Kākano classes this week as the senior children have swimming instructors teaching them this week.
Finger Spelling - last week many of the children in our class had finger spelling as a part of their homework. Finger spelling helps children take the sounds of words they are learning to print (so they can write them down).
We are just starting to get the hang of finger spelling:
1. Use the hand I don't write with
2. Start the initial (first) sound on my thumb
3. Segment the sounds a-m as you hold up a finger. One sound, one finger. Then blend them together am

Holiday Reading Logs - are due now
We will have a lucky draw at our assembly this Friday. Thank you to all those children who have already returned their holiday reading logs.

Thursday - normal school day
Friday - Junior Kapa Haka group performing at JPC, sausage sizzle and juicies $1.50 each, roller skating at lunchtime.
